Match Report
Ramsey pressed ahead with their promotion campaign with a 22-0 win over visitors Capenhurst with a 22-0 win at the Mooragh Park in a game sponsored by Penketh Millar Architects.

In weather conditions which were nothing short of appalling, the game was at times something of a lottery and the winner was always going to be the team that adapted best to the high wind and driving rain.

Ramsey won the toss and elected to play into the wind in the first half and they adopted a very effective pick and drive strategy. The ball was retained in the forwards and they took it in turn to edge up the field a couple of steps at a time.
Capenhurst had the first scoring chance though after just two minutes. Ramsey’s Lance Wyllie went off his feet at a ruck and the visitor’s stand off Jamie Gray had a shot at goal from halfway. He missed and Capenhurst never really got a look in for the rest of the game as Ramsey’s pack took control.

John Watling broke the deadlock after a forty metre forward drive and once they had their noses in front Ramsey never really looked back. He picked the ball up and powered over from close range to put Ramsey on their way to victory.

Skipper Tynan Pritchard soon doubled Ramsey's lead on twenty minutes with a virtually identical short range break, again after a solid forward effort and he was able to take advantage and go over from close range to make the score 10-0. Fintan Cummins couldn't make the conversion in the blustering wind and that was how it stayed until the break

Just two minutes into the second half and it was effectively game over for Capenhurst. Danny Turner and Gareth Hinge combined well down the right in open play to send the latter clear for a try and extend Ramsey's lead to 15-0. With the wind now at Ramseys back their would be no way back for the visitors.
Capenhurst then began a fightback led very aggressively by number eight Ritchie Newsham. They were sharper at the scrum and hitting hard in defence, unfortunately though it was too little too late and when they turned over ball in their own twenty two late in the half, Nick McCudden was on hand to sneak over and make it 20-0. Fintan Cummins converted from the touchline and the game was over.
Ramsey moved up into second place in the league table after leaders Parkonians lost to West Park Warriors who are now the only unbeaten side in the division.
